Ellsworth Grant labor relations and other papers, 1941-1970.

Grant worked for the Allen Manufacturing Company of Hartford, Connecticut. As part of his responsibilities, Grant kept notebooks with personnel policies and handbooks, job rating procedures, job descriptions, and reports of the personnel department. He also kept the materials he received while attending (and teaching?) job relations training offered in Washington, DC by the War Manpower Commission. The collection also contains a notebook kept by Grant while serving on the Governor's Committee to Develop an Environmental Policy for Connecticut, 1970, and research material on manufacturing in Connecticut.

Born in Wethersfield, Connecticut in 1917, Grant spent his entire life in the state except for four years at Harvard University. From 1940-1958 he worked for Allen Manufacturing Company in Hartford and then for Connecticut Manifold Forms Co., which later merged with Allied Paper Co.
